Who can apply
Anyone who's been a member of Filmbase for more than a month can apply for a 15 Mile travel/accommodation grant.
*no matter how senior or junior - we know cashflow can get disrupted at any time in your career.
**Please note, that we are discrete and non-judgemental but we'll share your application with someone in Filmbase management to check you're a member and - if necessary - reach a decision in collaboration with them.
How to apply

You should include the following information please ...
1. About you
Your name
Your email address
Your phone number
Your home postcode (or the postcode of the address you'll be travelling to)
2. Your membership
Please confirm you have been a member of Filmbase for more than a month.
The 15 Mile Fund operates in collaboration with Filmbase, so we'll contact them for confirmation and to invite them to be involved in the decision-making.
3. The opportunity
We can help with travel and/or accommodation costs for any opportunity which will further your career, whether that's a networking event, training day/course, work experience placement, job interview, or even a new job (we know money can be tight while you wait for the first pay-cheque to arrive).
Please tell us:
A little bit about the opportunity (ideally include a link)
Which company or which crew you'll be working with - we'll never contact them
When it is
Where it is
Whether there's a deadline for us giving you a decision about whether or not we can help with your costs
4. The costs
Depending on what funds we have available, we may be able to help with travel costs such as train & bus fares, reasonably taxi costs, or petrol ... and accommodation costs such as a reasonably-priced B&B for one night (for a single-day event) or up to 2 weeks (for a course, a work experience placement or a new job).
Please list the costs you need help with, being specific, including a grand total, and attaching screengrabs from the booking site.
We operate on an honesty basis but have a limited pot of money, so we ask only that you make sure you've minimised these costs (within reason!).
Please be sure that the money you're applying for is the only thing stopping you from attending the event. If you fail to attend, we will likely rescind your grant - or ask for the money back if we've already given it to you - even if you've already spent it.
5. The payment
We prefer to reimburse you after the event, but if cashflow's tight and you need the money upfront that's possible - please just tell us what your deadline is.
What we ask for in return
Very little!
We want to trust everyone, but experience has taught us ... well 🤷♀️... To ensure our limited fundraising isn't abused, we will ask you to send us a photo from the event, just to prove that you attended and all was well.
We'd also love to hear how it went and how it benefitted you. If you're comfortable, we may ask whether we can quote you in the future to promote the fund and explain its benefits, but we can do so anonymously if you prefer.
Finally, we hope you'll consider attending a fundraising event in the future to help us replenish our coffers ... or even donate to the Fund when your cashflow improves ... but neither is obligatory!
